I am a sucker for anything lavender. A dear friend of mine told me I MUST have a lavender latte from Black Tap Coffee in Charleston, SC while I was there back at the end of February. This is probably one of the coolest little coffee shops I've been to in a long time. Right on the outskirts of Downtown Charleston, this simple and homey cafe is the place to be. Black Tap had an amazingly simplistic vibe about it that just screamed in hushed tones that I could stay there forever.
One of my favorite things about local coffee shops is when they make their own syrups. My favorite coffee shop/bakery, Camino Bakery, in Winston-Salem, NC makes their own and I feel that it really adds a new level of perfection and authenticity to the experience of the crafted beverage. Oh dear lord, that was so pretentious I could die.... ANYWAY.
Now, this was the first time I had had a cup of coffee in over a year+ and I was kind of panicking about it. Coffee and I don't have the best relationship ever seeing as it completely ruins my stomach (hence why I drink so much tea) but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to drink a rich, luscious & smooth cup of Counter Culture Coffee with fresh, homemade lavender syrup. Oh.Muh.Gawd. Perfection. I think I may have shed a tear or two over this cup of coffee (btw, I keep trying to spell coffee as *coofe* because it's late and I'm crazy. Figured I'd let you know just for shits & giggles), even if it did give me one of the worst migraines I'd had in weeks.... Needless to say, I won't be drinking anymore coffee for the foreseeable future. Thank goodness for Lavender Earl Grey (Versailles Tea) to keep my lavender addiction in check.
